Ocala's Osten Waite survived a streak of three straight bogeys in the second round of the KIA Open in Quito, Ecuador and made the cut by one stroke at the par-72 Quito Tennis & Golf Club.
Osten played a bogeyless first round, making three birdies for a 3-under-par 69. On Friday, he shot 1-over-73, taking bogeys on holes 7, 8 and 9. At 2 under par, he's tied for 47th, seven strokes off the pace of leaders Armando Favela (70-65-135) and Franco Romero (68-67-135) in the event that carries $175,000 in purse money.
Frequent Ocala visitor Manual Torres posted 68-73-141 and is tied for 40th at 3 under. In Thursday's round, he was 6 under after 15 holes before taking two late bogeys for a 4-under round.
