Two Par 3 Bogeys Cost Potter Lincoln Land Title
Monday, June 26, 2017

A pair of bogeys on the final five holes, both on par threes, one coming on a three-putt green, cost Ted Potter his first victory on the Web.com Tour in six years at the Lincoln Land Charity Championship yesterday.

Playing the back nine of the Panther Creek Country Club, Ted was 13 under par after making pars at 10, 11 and 12. Adam Schenk, the leader, was at 16 under. However, while Ted was in the process of making a par at No. 13, Schenk double bogeyed the 12th and the lead was down to one. On the verge of catching Schenk, Ted hit the green at the par-3 14th but three-putted, and a short while later, Schenk birdied the hole and the lead jumped to three again.

Ted then made par at No. 15 and birdied the par-5 16th to get it back to 13 under, and in a four-way tie for third place. He then missed the green at the par-3 17th and took bogey, before birdieing No. 18 and finishing at 13 under. Meanwhile, Schenk bogeyed the final hole and dropped back to 14 where he was joined by three others. He eventually birdied the second playoff hole to win his first Web.com event.

Ted wound up one behind and tied for fifth and received a check for $20,075, raising his total for the season to $197,957. He remained in fourth place on the money list. But the two bogeys on the par threes late in the round cost him the title and the $99,000 check that Schenk collected.
