Tiger Adds Another 64, Takes 2-Stroke Lead in Japan
Saturday, October 26, 2019

Tiger Woods pulled out of his first-round tie with Gary Woodland at the rain-plagued Zozo Championship by posting his second straight 6-under-par 64 over the par-70 Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club in Chiba, Japan. Woodland added a 4-under 66 to his opening 64 and is still alone in second at 10-under 130. With the weather wreaking havoc with the schedule, the event won't wind up until Monday in Japan, although it will be Sunday night in the U. S.

As opposed to his first round where he opened with three straight bogeys on holes 10-12, then rebounded with nine birdies the rest of the way, Tiger played those three holes in birdie-birdie-par, then added birdies on 13, 17 and 18 for a 5-under 31. On the front, where he made five birdies on Thursday, he made just two in round 2 along with one bogey for a 1-under 35.

Behind Woodland in third place at 8 under were Keegan Bradley (69-63-132) and hometown favorite Hideki Matsuyama (65-67-132). Seminole Daniel Berger added a 66 to his opening 67 and is tied for fifth at 7-under 133. Gator Billy Horschel (68-67-135) is tied for ninth at 5 under.

After a 2-over-72 in the opener, Rory McIlroy came back with a 5-under-65 and is tied for 21st at 3 under.
