Royal Palm Meet in Final Weekend at Gulfstream

    HALLANDALE BEACH - The 2026 Royal Palm Meet at Gulfstream Park will enter its final weekend today with a 10-race program co-headlined by the $100,000 Benny The Bull and $100,000 Bear’s Den.

    The 20-cent Rainbow 6 starts anew today following last Monday’s mandatory payout that yielded multiple $12,403 payoffs.

    The Rainbow 6 sequence will span Races 5-10 and include both the Benny The Bull, a seven-furlong handicap for 3-year-olds and up, in Race 8 and the Bear’s Den, a mile turf stakes for 3-year-olds, in Race 9.

    A mandatory payout of the 20-cent Rainbow 6 jackpot pool will be offered Monday, closing day of the meet.

    Heading into the final weekend, jockeys Samy Camacho and Diego Herrera are tied at the top of the standings with 82 wins apiece. They will clash in the Benny The Bull, Camacho aboard 2-1 in the morning line Back Em Up and Herrera on Pure Class, rated second at 3-1.

    Camacho has seven mounts today, six Sunday and five Monday. Herrera has seven mounts today, six Sunday and eight Monday.

    Meanwhile, Saffie Joseph Jr. is well on his way to a 16th consecutive meet training title with a 46-35 lead over Victor Barboza Jr.

    The 2026 Sunshine Meet will get underway Friday, Sept. 4 with live racing four days a week, Thursday through Sunday. The $225,000, Gr. III Princess Rooney, a Breeders’ Cup Challenge ‘Win & You’re In’ stakes for the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint at Keeneland on Oct. 31, will headline the stakes schedule on Sept. 12.
