Reed Holds Slim Lead at Northern Trust
Sunday, August 11, 2019

Patrick Reed takes a one-stroke lead into the finale of the Northern Trust Championship in Jersey City, but there are a host of dangerous players within hailing distance in the first of the FedEx Cup playoffs. Reed is 13 under par, one better than Abraham Ancer, and two in front of Brandt Snedeker and Jon Rahm. There are three more at 11 under par, including Justin Rose.

At 10 under, and far from out of the hunt, are Seminole Brooks Koepka and Rory McIlroy, and at 9 under is Dustin Johnson, who shot 63 in the opening round but has been unable to take it further. Jordan Spieth was in the mix for 36 holes but soared to a 74 yesterday and dropped back to 8 under.

Gator Billy Horschel shot 67 yesterday and is tied for 18th at 7 under. Matt Every and Brian Gay missed the cut.

KORN FERRY TOUR - Scott Harrington also holds a one-stroke lead, this one in the WinCo Foods Portland Open on the Korn Ferry Tour; he's 18 under at the Pumpkin Ridge Golf Club in North Plains, Oregon. Kristoffer Ventura is next  at 17 under.

Central Floridian Rob Oppenheim is tied for fifth at minus 14, same as Robby Shelton, who led after the first round with a 10-under 61. Wade Binfield, winner of the Ocala Open at Candler Hills in 2017, is tied for ninth at 11 under, while Gator Brett Stegmaier is staging a comeback and is tied for 14th at 10 under. Gator Tyson Alexander, still living in Gainesville, is tied for 24th after rounds of 64-70-70-204, 9 under.
