Potter Turns It Around in Illinois, Posts 5-Under 66
Friday, May 27, 2022

Ted Potter turned it all around yesterday in the first round of the $750,000 NV5 Invitational presented by Old National Bank in Glenville, Illinois. After five straight missed cuts on the PGA Tour between September and March, and another two on the Korn Ferry Tour, Ted finally made a check last week but he's only had one round in the 60s, and  includes three rounds in the 80s.

But, Ted played a bogeyless round at the Glen Club yesterday and shot 5-under-par 66.

Based on the overall low scoring Thursday, even at a tie for 15th Ted is far from being safe despite his excellent play; the early projected cut line is 3 under par

Michael Kim is the leader after posting an 8-under-par 63, followed by Nick Hardy, Will Gordon and Stephen Franken with 64s. There are a slew of sharpshooters right behind at 65, 66 and 67, and 79 players under par.

Ted began on the back nine and made birdies on 13, 15 and 18 for a 3-under 32. On the front, he made eight pars and an eagle three on the par-5 fifth for 34. His best opening round this season had been a 74 at the Fortinet Championship and he's averaged 75.75 per round.
