Ted Potter came in like a lamb but went out like a lion in the first round of the Traveler's Championship yesterday.
Ted took a double bogey on his first hole - No. 10 - then parred 11 and bogeyed 12 and was quickly in a hole at 3 over par. However, a string of six birdies on 13, 14, 15, 16, 1, and 2, reversed his fortunes and he was now 3 under, and tied for 10th. A bogey on 6 dropped him back to 2 under and he wound up the day in a tie for 37th. The early projected cut was at 1 under. He tees off at 12:40 today.
Zach Johnson and Jordan Spieth were the first-round leaders at 7-under 63, with Brian Harman, Rory McIlroy and Peter Malnati one stroke behind.
Seminoles: Daniel Berger 3 under; Brooks Koepka 2 under. Gators: Brett Stegmaier 1 under; Billy Horschel 2 over; Matt Every 3 over.
