Potter Returns in $600,000 Korn Ferry Challenge in Ponte Vedra
Thursday, June 11, 2020

Like the PGA Tour, the Korn Ferry Tour makes its return today with the $600,000 Korn Ferry Challenge at TPC Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra. Ted Potter is in the 154-man field, as is Camilo Villegas, whose heart-breaking family tale has injected a somber note into the tour's return.

Mia, the 20-month-old daughter of the 38-year-old former Gator, is battling cancerous tumors of the brain and spine and is currently in a Miami hospital, where she has already undergone various surgeries. Villegas's wife, Maria, insisted Camilo play at Sawgrass during this difficult time for the family, and he's in the midst of a solid opening round over the Dye's Valley Course.

Among the players in the field, aside from Ted and Camilo, are D. A. Points, Alex Cejka, Tag Ridings, Sam Saunders, Mike Weir, Dominic Bozzelli, Gator Tyson Alexander, Robert Allenby, Mark Blakefield, winner of one of the Hooter's events at Golden Hills several years ago, Seminoles Hank Lebioda and Jack Maguire, Erik Compton, Tommy 'Two Gloves' Gainey, Central Floridians Rob Oppenheim and Nick Lindheim, and two former winners of the Ocala Open at Candler Hills, Wade Binfield and two-time champ Dan McCarthy.
