Potter Out of Utah Championship
Saturday, July 15, 2017

Despite shooting 5-under-par (69-68-137) at the Utah Championship, Ted Potter missed the cut by one stroke yesterday as no less than 77 players were at 6 under or better in Farmington, Utah.

Ted is still in good position on the Web.com money list with just under $200,000 in the bank, although he figures to drop a spot or two on Sunday evening. Then he'll take next week off as the tour moves to Omaha for a new event, the $600,000 Pinnacle Bank Championship.

Needing to shoot 4-under 67 to make it to the weekend, Ted played the back nine first in 1 under, birdieing the 13th hole. On the front, he made three birdies and one bogey, the bogey coming on the par-3 fourth hole. He got that back with a birdie on the par-5 seventh, but was unable to birdie either of the last two holes, thus the early trip home.

As has happened so often on the Web.com Tour this season, a fresh face sits on top of the leaderboard after 36 holes. Kyle Wilshire added a 62 to his opening-round 64 for 126, an unreal 16 under good for a two-stroke lead over Christian Brand (67-61-128). Central Floridian Rob Oppenheim is tied for third after rounds of 66-63-129, 13 under.

Seminole Jack Maguire is out after rounds of 74-70, as is Dan McCarthy, two-time winner of the Ocala Open, who just missed with Ted at 69-68-137.
