Potter is On the Bubble at Pebble Beach
Saturday, February 4, 2023

At the halfway point in the $9 million AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, Ted Potter is tied for 76th as he bids to make his first cut in eons. Ted was bounced after 36 holes in all nine of his tournament excursions last season and didn't earn a penny. Thankfully, he had collected about $7 million in previous cash to fall back on.

Ted followed up his 1-over-par opening-round 73 with yesterday's 1-under-par 70 on the Monterey Peninsula course and is at even par heading into today's third round. In this event, the cut comes after 54 holes, so Ted needs a good one today to end his losing streak. Par is 72 at both Pebble Beach Golf Links and Spyglass Hill, and 71 at Monterey Peninsula. Everybody who makes today's cut finishes at Pebble Beach tomorrow.

In yesterday's round, Ted made one bogey and one birdie for a front-nine 34, then bogeyed 10 and 11 before a round-saving trio of birdies on 12, 13 and 16 for a back-nine 36. In the pro-am department, he and his partner have posted 70-65-135, 8 under par, and they're tied for 53rd behind Kurt Kitayama's team, which is 21 under. Kitayama leads the individual list with 64-70-134, 9 under.

Seminole Hank Lebioda led after round 1 with a 63, but he added a 72 yesterday to blow the lead, making a late double bogey and bogey to drop from a leading 11 under to 8 under, and he's locked in a four-way tie for second.

Surging ex-Gator Tyson Alexander's 71-69-140 has him at 3 under and tied for 35th, while Brian Gay is at 3 under with 68-72-140, and Camilo Villegas 1 over and tied for 93rd with 73-71-144.
