Monday, July 25, 2022
Hronis Racing’s Heywood Beach stalked the leader from the start of Del Mar’s $125,500, Gr. III Cougar II Stakes, took over at the head of the stretch and went on to win by a length. It’s the first stakes victory for the 5-year-old son of Speightstown, trained by John Sadler, now 18-4-2-3 with earnings of $289,251. At the 2019 OBS June Sale, he was purchased for $180,000 out of the Eddie Woods consignment after breezing a quarter in :21 2/5 at the Under Tack show.

Gatsas Stables, R. A. Hill Stable, Steven Schoenfeld and Smart Choice Stable’s Sweet Harmony is two for two and a stakes-winner after pressing the pace in the $104,000 Colleen Stakes at Monmouth Park, taking command a furlong from home and scoring by a length and three quarters over fellow OBS graduate Alternate Rock (March ’22, October ’21). The 2-year-old daughter of Bayern is a two-time OBS graduate, sold by Camelot Acres Racing and Sales, Agent, at the 2021 October Yearling Sale and then purchased for $135,000 out of the Eddie Woods consignment at the 2022 March Sale after turning in an Under Tack eighth in :9 4/5. Trained by John Terranova, she has earned $94,500.
