Murray Leads Faceless Valero Open
Friday, April 20, 2018

With most of the marquee players skipping the Valero Texas Open, including Ted Potter, Phil Mickelson and Tiger Woods, the formerly highly-rated event has lost much of its luster. The first-round leader is Grayson Murray, whose 5-under 67 is good for a one-stroke edge over a host of players, one of them Florida Gator Billy Horschel, who appears to have regained his game in recent starts.

Of the other Gators, Matt Every is at even-par 72 and tied for 35th, but Brian Gay's 2-over 74 is tied for 87th and Brett Stegmaier's 3-over 75 is tied for 107th. Camilo Villegas, originally in the entries, opted out late.
