McIlroy Gets $15 Million Gift From Koepka
Tuesday, August 27, 2019

Brooks Koepka lost his mojo in the final round of the Tour Championship and gave Rory McIlroy a $15 million gift.  Brooks took three consecutive bogeys on the back nine at East Lake and wound up at 13 under, tied for third place with Justin Thomas. He was four behind Rory, who shot 13 under while playing, and had five strokes added to his score for 18 under with the new bizarre format.

Justin was the most rewarded recipient of the point system - he shot just three under for 72 holes and took advantage of his 10-stroke lead to end up at 13 under. Xander Schauffele benefited most from Koepka's collapse to finish all alone in second at 14 under.

It's only 16 days away from the next wrap-around season, with the opening event in West Virginia from Sept. 12-15. Ted Potter will make his return in the Greenbrier Classic, the event that gave him his first Tour victory in 2012. Ted shot 16-under 264 over the par-70 Old White TPC course and tied for first with Troy Kelly. He then proceeded to win the playoff after what seemed like 10 birdies on the par-3 18th.
