Jackpot Spikes for Florida Sire Stakes Week

    HALLANDALE BEACH - Gulfstream Park’s special Wednesday program will have a special bonus with a 20-cent Rainbow 6 carryover of $356,444. First race post time is 1:15 p.m.

    The Rainbow 6 sequence begins with the third race, a maiden claiming event for 2-year-olds going 5 ½ furlongs. The sequence also includes an allowance event at a mile on the turf that includes graded stakes- winner Speed Franco and stakes-winners Seismic Jolt and Art G Is Back.

     Multiple tickets with all six winners Sunday returned $4,193.74.

    The Rainbow 6 was last solved July 6, when one lucky bettor hit for a $173,583 jackpot payoff.


     Wednesday’s program kicks off a five-day week and the beginning of the $1.4 million FTBOA Florida Sire Stakes Series. Saturday’s feature races will be the $100,000 Dr. Fager for 2-year-old colts and geldings and the $100,000 Desert Vixen for 2-year-old fillies.

NOTES: Sound Machine, a 2-year-old daughter of Into Mischief owned by e Five Racing, won her career debut Sunday impressively under jockey Edgard Zayas while covering 5 ½ furlongs in 1:04.76. Trained by Saffie Joseph Jr., Sound Machine brought $500,000 at the Keeneland September Sale of 2018…Leading rider Zayas won two races on the day. Along with Sound Machine ($4) he also won aboard Sleeping Giant ($2.60) in the third…Jockey Miguel A. Vasquez won three times, winning aboard Helping Lisa D ($5.60) in the fourth race, Great Sister Diane ($8.80) in the fifth and Fujairah ($30.20) in the seventh…There was a rare double dead heat in Sunday’s final race. Karenina and Oblio’s Wish finished deadlocked for third while Mi Karlita and Regal Romance wound up in a dead heat for fifth.
