The field for the next PGA Tour event - the CJ Cup at Nine Bridges, to be played on Jeju Island in Korea beginning Thursday, begins a string of tournaments to be decided on foreign soil. The Tour doesn't return to the United States until the RSM Classic at Sea Island, Georgia, on Nov. 21.

    The CJ Cup roster is replete with players from Korea, Japan, China, Thailand, etc., but it actually has many more familiar names than all of the events that have been played at U. S. venues in the past couple of months. The list includes defending champ Brooks Koepka, Phil Mickelson, Jason Day, Justin Thomas, Tommy Fleetwood, Sergio Garcia, J. B. Holmes, Emiliano Grillo, Hideki Matsuyama, Billy Horschel, Ian Poulter, Jordan Spieth and Gary Woodland. 

    However, the most intriguing name in the field has to be Thailand's Jazz Janewattananond, who is 23 and looks like he's 15.

    After the trip to Korea, two events will be played in Japan, then Bermuda, Shanghai and Mexico. Most likely, Ted Potter will be back for the Mexican tournament. 

    Lanto Griffin shot a final-round 69 to hold on for victory at 14 under par in the Houston Open yesterday. He was one stroke better than Scott Harrington, who closed with 69 to finish at 13 under, and Mark Hubbard, who also shot a final 69. There was a group of five tied for fourth at 11 under.

    Gators: Matt Every tied for 28th at 5 under, closing with 71, and Brian Gay tied for 42nd at 4 under, with a final 72.
