DeChambeau Rallies for First PGA Tour Victory
Monday, July 17, 2017

Daniel Berger couldn't get it together in the final round of the John Deere Classic yesterday, and his 2-under-par 70 left him three strokes behind Bryson DeChambeau, whose 7-under 65 proved to be just enough for a one-stroke victory over Patrick Rodgers. DeChambeau, 23, picked up his first PGA Tour victory, collected a check for $1,008,000, and earned a spot in the British Open this week.

Wesley Bryan (64) and Rick Lamb (66) both closed strongly to tie for third at 16 under, while Berger's 69-67-63-70-215 left him in a five-way deadlock for fifth that included Zach Johnson and ageless Steve Stricker. Gator Camilo Villegas (67-69-68-68-272) turned in one of his best performances in recent months at 12 under.

A WALK IN THE PARK - Sung Hyun Park also picked the weekend to record her first LPGA victory, but this one came in the U. S. Women's Open in Bedminster, N. J. After opening with 73-70, Park added a pair of 67s on the weekend for 11-under 277 and a two-stroke edge over amateur Hye-Jin Choi, who blew her chance with a double bogey on No. 16. Gator Sandra Gal closed with 1-under 71 and tied for 27th at 1-over 289, same score as Lexi Thompson and Stacy Lewis.
