Louis, Ted and Tiger All Make the Cut
Saturday, May 21, 2022

Ocala's pros ramped it up on Friday and both made the cut, Louis Oosthuizen at the PGA Championship in Tulsa and Ted Potter at the Advent Health Championship in Kansas City.

After a 3-over 73 in round 1, Louis began round 2 with nine straight pars on the back nine at Southern Hills, and was precariously sitting on the cut line of +3. A bogey on No. 2 could have been disastrous, but he made it back with a birdie on 4. He then parred 5, 6 and 7, and just needed two more pars to ensure he'd be playing on the weekend. No. 8 is a par 3, and Louis hit it in the right greenside bunker. He blasted out to 13 feet, 6 inches, but missed the important putt. A two-putt par on No. 9 left him at 4 over, one past the cut line. Then, a funny thing happened - at 4:10 p. m., the line went to 4 over, - and stayed there. And Louis was in.

Tiger followed up his 74 in the opener with a 1-under 69 in front of another monster gallery and also will play the weekend. He made four birdies, one bogey and a double. The only problem is if his ankle will hold up for 36 more holes.

Ted began round 2 in a tie for 86th, and birdied No. 12 to move up to a tie for 64th, on the cut line. He added a birdie at No. 13 to get it to -1, but gave it back with a bogey at the par-3 14th. He closed out the back nine with birdies at 16 and the par-5 18th for a tidy 3-under 33. When he began the front with a birdie 4, he was 4 under for the day and 3 under overall.

Ted then bogeyed No. 4 and at 2 under was tied for 33rd. A bogey at 7 dropped him into a tie for 47th at 1 under; the cut at the time was even par. He parred 8 and 9 and wound up with 73-70-143, and his first cut of the season after five straight misses.
