Conners Still in Valspar Lead; Tiger's One Behind
Sunday, March 11, 2018

Innisbrook's Copperhead course has never seen a crowd like the one that followed Tiger yesterday, but it will probably be eclipsed today as Corey Connors heads into the Valspar finale with a one-stroke led over Tiger, Justin Rose and Brandt Snedeker.

Conners didn't fold in round 3 as many expected him to, making six birdies and three bogeys en route to a 3-under 68 and a 9-under total of 204. Tiger played an almost flawless round, thrilling the mob with five birdies and one late bogey for 67. He was straight off the tee, deadly once again with his irons, and ditto for his short game and putting.

Fortunately for Conners, he'll be playing alongside Rose today, while Tiger will be right in front of them with Snedeker as his partner. In his first try at a PGA Tour victory, the last thing Conners needed was to be paired with Tiger on Sunday, attempting to ward off Tigermania for 18 holes.

Ex-Gator Chris Couch, in his return to the tour after 5 1/2 years, double bogeyed the par-3 eighth hole for the second day in a row and finished with 2-over 73. He's at 3-over 216, tied for 60th. Gator Matt Every is also 3 over in the tie for 60th.
