Despite a late bogey - on the 16th hole - Patrick Cantlay came from behind to overtake dueling Justin Thomas and Jon Rahm to win the Zozo Championship at Sherwood by a single stroke. While Thomas and Rahm were knocking heads in the final threesome, Cantlay made nine birdies and two bogeys for a 7-under-par 65, and wound up at 23 under par.
Thomas finished with a 3-under 69, Rahm with a 4-under 68, and they deadlocked for second at 22 under. Lanto Griffin, playing alongside Thomas and Rahm, skied to an even-par 72 and fell out of the running early. Cantlay cinched the title on the back nine with birdies on 11, 13, 14 and 15, negating his 16th-hole bogey.
The electricity generated by the pairing of Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson never developed, with Tiger posting a 2-over-par 74 and finishing at 1 under for the 72 holes, while Phil's 78 left him at 3 over, and a 76th-place finish.
Seminole Daniel Berger tied for 17th at 15 under, closing with 67, but Gator Billy Horschel tied for 69th at 3 under.
