Bucchero Named Indiana-bred Horse of the Year

    Multiple Gr. II winner Bucchero, the richest Indiana-bred with career earnings of $947,936, was named the state's Horse of the Year and champion older horse at the Indiana Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association's annual award banquet.

    The 7-year-old son of Kantharos competed at five tracks last year, including a trip to Royal Ascot for the Gr. I Kings Stand Stakes. Bucchero won the Gr. II Woodford Stakes, finished second in the Gr. II Shakertown Stakes and third in the Gr. III Twin Spires Turf Sprint Stakes en route to earning $224,620 for the year. 

    Racing for Ironhorse Racing Stable, Bucchero retired with a record of 11-6-3 in 31 starts. He has entered stud at Pleasant Acres Stallions with a fee of $5,000.
