Another Handle Record for Gulfstream

    HALLANDALE BEACH - Gulfstream Park’s 14-race program Saturday, highlighted by Ete Indien’s victory in the $400,000 Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth, produced a record handle on Fountain of Youth Day of $36,522,388. The previous record was $31.230 million set on last year’s 14-race program.

    Fountain of Youth Day handle has grown each year since 2015, when total handle was $20.585 million.

    “We want to thank our patrons and horsemen for participating and supporting this great day of racing,” said Gulfstream’s Vice President of Racing Mike Lakow. “There was a tremendous energy in the building from morning until evening. We’re looking forward to more great racing and entertainment during the last month of the Championship Meet culminating in the $1 million Curlin Florida Derby March 28.”

Maximum Security Wins Saudi Cup, Pegasus Winner Mucho Gusto Fourth - Last year’s Florida Derby winner and disqualified Kentucky Derby winner, Maximum Security, trained by Jason Servis and ridden by Luis Saez, won Saturday’s $20 million Saudi Cup. Midnight Bisou was second, Benbatl third and 2020 Pegasus winner Mucho Gusto fourth.
