Oosthuizen Ties for 6th in LIV D. C. Event

    Ocala's Louis Oosthuizen was tied for the lead  at 9 under par halfway through the final round of the LIV event at the Trump National Golf Club in Washington D. C., but Oostie couldn't keep it going Sunday and he eventually finished tied for sixth at 7 under. 

    Harold Varner III birdied the final hole and finished at 12 under to take home the first prize of $4 million. He was a stroke better than Branden Grace, who collected $2,130,000, and two better than Mito Pereira, who earned $1.5 million. Seminole Brooks Koepka tied for 12th at 5 under, good for a check of $350,000. 

    Oostie shot 1 under on both Friday and Sunday, and 5 under on Saturday and lugged $613,333 of those Saudi dollars back to Ocala. 

    Oostie's Stinger GC finished second at 24 under par in the team event, three off winner Torque GC's 27 under. The Stinger team split $1.5 million, or $375,000 apiece. In 2023, Oostie has earned $3,229,047 in individual cash, plus $1,250,000 in team money, for a total of $4,479,047.

    Phil Mickelson, the most outspoken member of the LIV cast, earned $130,000 Sunday after finishing 44th at 9 over par, and has put a disappointing $1,340,250 in the bank all told.
