Under 70 Shooters on Friday Slump a Day Later
Sunday, May 8, 2022

In one of the strangest scoring days in quite a while on the Champions Tour, not one of the 15 players who shot in the 60s in round 1 of the Mitsubishi Electric Classic was able to break 70 in round 2. There were nine who shot in the 60s on Saturday after posting 70 or more on Friday.

Roger Rowland improved somewhat with a 5-over-par 77 after his disastrous 82 on Friday, and the only reason Roger is in 75th place at 15 over instead of 78th and last is because three players have withdrawn. David Toms leads by two strokes heading into today's finale with rounds of 65-71-136, 8 under par. Ken Duke is next with 65-73-138, six under, and there's a five-way deadlock at 4 under among Ernie Els, Jay Haas, Fred Couples, Mark Walker and Steve Flesch.

Retief Goosen and Olin Browne shot the co-best rounds on Saturday, 5-under 67s. Goosen (74-67) is tied for eighth at 3 under and Browne (77-67) is tied for 26th at even-par.

BRADLEY IS THE GENERAL IN MARYLAND - Keegan Bradley (70-65-67-202) is in good position to take the $9 million Wells Fargo Championship; he holds a two-stroke lead over Max Homa (67-66-71-204) and four over Anirban Lahiri and James Hahn.

Seminoles: Hank Lebioda - 68-70-73-211, 1 over, tied for 24th; Chase Seiffert - 67-73-74-214, 4 over, tied for 44th. Gator Camilo Villegas is tied for 39th with 69-69-75-213, 3 over.
