Late Double Bogey Knocks Potter Out of Korn Ferry Event
Saturday, June 25, 2022

After his par-71 effort on Thursday, Ted Potter needed to add a 1-under-par 70 or better on Friday to make the cut at the Live and Work in Maine Open.

Ted came out of the gate with birdies on the second and sixth holes at the Falmouth Country Club, and just had to hold his position to make it to the weekend; he could afford one bogey. That came at No. 8 and he was still right on the line, but a double bogey on the par-4 10th put his back against the wall. Ted had eight holes in which to make two birdies, and he was only able to get one - on the 18th. So, his 71-71-142, even par, missed the cut by a stroke.

In retrospect, what really buried Ted was a triple bogey on Thursday and the double on Friday - five over par for the two holes. Aside from that he played well - 25 of 36 greens in regulation and up and down on five of six attempts out of the sand.

Pierceson Coody ripped the Falmouth course for a 9-under 62 and took over the lead at 11 under par, with John VanDerLaan (65-67-132) one stroke back. There's a five-way tie for third at 8 under.

XANDER RISES TO THE TOP - After his opening 62 on Thursday, Rory McIlroy stumbled to a par 70 in round 2 of the Traveler's Championship in Cromwell, Connecticut and dropped out of first place, which Xander Schauffele assumed with a pair of 63s, 14 under. That gave Xander a five-stroke lead over a group of five at 9 under, including Patrick Cantlay (64-67-131). McIlroy is in a group at 8 under.

Among those missing the cut of 2 under were Sam Burns, Rory Sabbatini, Jordan Spieth, Rickie Fowler, Joaquin Niemann, Zach Johnson and Jason Day.

Seminole Hank Lebioda's 66-70-136, 4 under, has him tied for 38th. No other Seminoles or Gators are entered.
