Potter Ties for 68th in Texas
Monday, May 17, 2021

The only consolation for Ted Potter at the conclusion of the AT&T Byron Nelson was that he made three eagles over the 72 holes, and nobody else did. But even 6-under-par for those three holes didn't help Ted because he played the other 69 holes in 1 over par and wound up tied for 68th place at 5 under.

Ted picked up another meager check similar to the one from Wells Fargo the week before, this one for $16,848, raising his earnings for the season to $334,128. That's more than satisfactory for mortal men, but not for a PGA Tour pro looking to reach the top 125 on the FedEx Cup points list in order to retain his exemption for next season. Ted dropped four spots on that list, down to 161st, and he stayed at No. 159 on the money list. In the Sunday round, Ted hit just 5 of 14 fairways and 11 of 18 greens. He isn't eligible for the PGA Championship at Kiawah Island this week.

    K. H. Lee won the event in McKinney, Texas for his first Tour victory with a 25-under-par 263, closing with a Sunday 66 to defeat sizzling Sam Burns by three strokes. Sam shot a final-round 70.

There was a four-way tie for third at 21 under among Seminole Daniel Berger, who closed with 64; Patton Kizzire, who shot the best round, a Sunday 63; Scott Stallings and Charl Schwartzel. Seminole Hank Lebioda tied for 17th at 16 under, with a final 68.
