Potter Falls to a Tie for 50th at AT&T Byron Nelson
Sunday, May 16, 2021

Too many over par holes over the Craig Ranch course proved to be costly for Ted Potter yesterday, and he fell all the way down to a tie for 50th at 9 under par at the AT&T Byron Nelson in McKinney, Texas. If he remains around that area after today's finale, Ted's check will be somewhere in the neighborhood of a meager $20,000 along with an inconsequential number of FedEx Cup points. That won't help him in his quest to reach the top 125 on the points list in order to retain his exempt status for next season.

Ted shot 37-36-73, 1 over par, after excellent rounds of 66 and 68, mainly due to a few disaster holes. The worst was No. 15, a par 3, where it took him four strokes to get it up and down after his tee shot left him 38 feet, 5 inches from the cup. It was only slightly better on No. 9, where Ted had to take a drop - many yards backwards - after a poor tee shot of 242 yards into an unplayable area. All this after he had made an eagle 3 on the par-5 5th hole.

Sizzling Sam Burns shot 69 after his Friday 62 to hang onto the lead at 20 under par, one stroke better than K. H. Lee, who shot 67. Tied for third at 17 under are Charl Schwartzel (66), Matt Kuchar (66), Jordan Spieth (66) and Alex Noren (70). Best rounds of the day were 63's turned in by Harris English and Scott Stallings.

Seminoles: Daniel Berger is tied for 18th at 13 under after a 67; Hank Lebioda is tied for 25th at 12 under after a 70.
