Kokrak Is Up to the Challenge and Wins in Fort Worth
Tuesday, June 1, 2021

Jordan Spieth wasn't able to keep it going in Sunday's final round of the Charles Schwab Challenge in Forth Worth, Texas, and Jason Kokrak took advantage of his rival's collapse and won the $7.5 million event by two strokes at 14 under par. It was the second victory of the season for Kokrak and he became the third multiple winner this season, following Bryson Dechambeau and Stewart Cink.

The duo came to the 18th hole with Kokrak in front by one stroke, and he closed the door with a par on 18 while Spieth dumped his tee shot in the water and took a bogey. Kokrak shot even-par 70 and Spieth tumbled to a 3-over-par 73.

The Tour moves to Dublin, Ohio this week for The Memorial, the prestigious Jack Nicklaus event at Muirfield Village Golf Club. Jon Rahm is the defending champ in the talent-laden field, surviving a final-round 75 last season to earn a check for $1,674,000. Rahm finished at 9 under and won by three strokes.

There was just one player who broke 70 in the difficult final round, Matthew Fitzpatrick shooting 68 and finishing third at 5 under.

Gator Bill Horschel, who tied for 13th last year and earned $171,585, is entered, along with Brian Gay and Camilo Villegas. Also in the lineup is South African Louis Oosthuizen, rumored by many to have recently bought a home and/or a horse farm in Ocala, and he'll also be shooting for the major share of the 9.3 million pot. Louis couldn't solve Muirfield and finished in a tie for 54th last year, collecting $21,762.
