Higgo (Who?) Edges 6 to win Palmetto Championship at Congaree
Monday, June 14, 2021

Numbers 1 and 2 on the leader board after 54 holes at the Palmetto Championship at Congaree failed miserably in Sunday's finale and allowed less-than-unknown Garrick Higgo to sneak in and grab his first PGA Tour victory with a virtual gift.

Higgo finished at 11 under on the par-71 Congaree Golf Club course after posting a final-round, 3-under 68, winning by a single stroke over a group of six deadlocked at 10 under. Doc Redman, Jhonattan Vegas, Tyrell Hatton, Bo Van Pelt and Hudson Swafford all shot between 66 and 68 to reach their lofty final positions, while Chesson Hadley, who woke up Sunday morning with an almost insurmountable 4-stroke lead at 14 under, sank to a 4-over-75 to fall into the second-place tie. Harris English, who began the day alone in second at 10 under, closed with 74 and finished at 7 under.

After a poor Saturday performance, Dustin Johnson was only able to muster up a final 70 and finished at 8 under. Seminole Hank Lebioda shot 67 and wound up tied for 31st at 4 under.
