Greenpointcrusader Gets First Florida Freshman Victory
Friday, June 4, 2021

The honor of getting the first winner by a Florida freshman sire in 2021 goes to Ocala Stud Farm and Greenpointcrusader, who's Robbing Robin won the fourth race at Gulfstream Park yesterday for Williston's Stonehedge Farm South, her owner and breeder, and trainer Kathleen O'Connell.

Emisael Jaramillo was aboard the filly, who broke from the No. 2 post in the $60,000 maiden special at 4 1/2 furlongs. Jaramillo sent Robbing Robin out quickly and she settled on the inside right behind the 1/2 favorite, Lara's Lady, who is by Uncaptured, former Ocala Stud stallion now standing in South Korea.

The duo ran 1-2 until the top of the stretch, opening up daylight on the rest of the field, and Robbing Robin wore down Lara's Lady late, catching her nearing the wire, and winning by half a length. She was clocked in :52.55, less than two seconds off the track record of :50.86. Robbing Robin paid $10.80 and earned a check for $39,000 for Stonehedge. She was awarded an Equibase 'E' speed figure of 77.
