Florida's Collegians Try Again This Week in Texas
Wednesday, May 26, 2021

Brooks Koepka made a valiant effort to win the PGA Championship last week in his quest to make it five Tour victories this season for Florida Gators and FSU Seminoles. Koepka, Daniel Berger, Brian Gay and Billy Horschel are the first four.

Koepka won't be playing this week at the $7.5 million Charles Schwab Challenge at the Colonial Country Club in Fort Worth, Texas, but Berger, last year's winner of the event, will be there, along with Gay, Horschel and Camilo Villegas. Berger made the cut at the PGA and was never in contention but he won't be missing lunch anytime soon - he took home $1,350,000 for his Texas victory last year.

Phil Mickelson prevailed in the PGA by two strokes and at the age of 50 became the oldest winner of a Major, unseating Julis Boros, who was 48 when he captured the PGA in 1968. Phil is playing this week and if he wins, would probably set some kind of record that Tour historians can muster up.

Ted Potter won't be playing, nor will Louis Oosthuizen, whose Ocala status we're still trying to ascertain.
