Cantlay and Rahm Tied at Memorial; Play Suspended Again
Saturday, June 5, 2021

Play was suspended for the second day at the Memorial yesterday with some players as far away from the 18th hole as No. 10 and 11, and Patrick Cantlay and Jon Rahm tied for the lead at 8 under par.

Cantlay added a 5-under-67 to his opening round of 69 for 136, while Rahm, after his Thursday 69, is also 5 under in round 2 with five holes remaining to try to break the deadlock over the Muirfield Village course.

The early projected cut line at Jack Nicklaus's tournament is 2 over par, and one of the three Gators appears to have already missed the boat; that's Camilo Villegas (73-75-148). Billy Horschel, who shot 76 on Thursday, is at even par in round 2 and at 4 over needs two birdies on his last five holes to keep playing. Brian Gay opened with 73 and is 2 over in round 2; he needs one birdie on his final three holes.

EARLY SATURDAY UPDATE: Rahm birdied two late holes and went to 10 under, taking a two-stroke lead over Cantlay heading into round 3.

Horschel birdied the fifth hole, a par 5, and ninth, a par 4, and made the cut right on the line of +2. Gay missed the cut with 73-75.
