Tiger Bogeys Last 3 Holes, Makes Genesis Cut Right On the Line
Saturday, February 18, 2023

On Thursday, Tiger birdied the last three holes at the Genesis Invitational for a 2-under-par 69 at the famed Riviera Country Club. Yesterday, he was sailing sailing along at 2 under after 14 holes, with 6 through 9 to play, a cinch to make the cut.

But in an un-Tiger-like finish, he bogeyed 6, 7 and 9 to wind up with a 74 for the day, 1 over for 36 holes, and possibly on the outside looking in as far as the cut was concerned. But a lot of help from his friends sent the cut from 1 under to 1 over late in a day that proved to be pretty tough for many in the field.

Although several players had to return this morning to finish round 2, Tiger remained safe on the 1-over cut line much to the delight of TV fans, on-course fans and, especially, NBC, whose bigwigs were thrilled that they were going to enjoy a weekend that wouldn't be Tiger-less.

Max Homa heads into round 3 at 10 under par despite a bogey on this final hole. He's one ahead of Lee Hodges, Keith Mitchell and Jon Rahm, and two ahead of Colli Morikawa, so this one is far from over. Rory McIlroy and Matt Kucher are both at 6 under.

Gator Billy Horschel missed the cut at 5 over, along with Jordan Spieth, Justin Rose and Hideki Matsuyama, who missed by just one at 2 over.
