Tournament of Champions Kicks off 2021 in Hawaii
Saturday, January 2, 2021

The PGA Tour schedule has reached the wrap-around second half, and nine of the top 10 players on the 2020-2021 money list are set to tee it up in the $6.7 million Sentry Tournament of Champions beginning in Hawaii on Thursday. They'll be playing the Plantation Course at Kapalua on the island of Maui.

Last year's champ, Justin Thomas, is back among a field of 42 to defend the title he won in a three-hole playoff against Patrick Reed and Xander Schauffele, taking home $1,340,000 in the process. Thomas is fifth on the current money list with $1.89 million in the till. Schauffele returns, too; he's eighth on the list with $1.83 million. Reed is back, but he's not on the top 10 list - yet.

Leader Dustin Johnson ($3.1 million) will be playing, along with Bryson DeChambeau ($2.5M), Jason Kokrak ($2M), Patrick Cantlay ($1.88M), upcoming star Viktor Hovland ($1.83M), Cameron Smith ($1.68M) and Carlos Ortiz ($1.5M). The only MIA is fourth-place Matthew Wolff.

Daniel Berger is the lone Seminole in the 42, while Brian Gay and Billy Horschel will represent the Gators.

Some of the other big guns in the field are Hideki Matsuyama, Tony Finau, Jon Rahm, Sergio Garcia, Adam Scott and Webb Simpson. No Tiger, Rory, Phil, or Ted Potter.
