Tiger's 82nd Victory Is 7 Holes Away
Sunday, October 27, 2019

Tiger Woods left the course as darkness set in at the Zozo Championship (early this morning in the U. S.) and he has just seven holes left tonight to secure victory for the 82nd time on the PGA Tour, and tie Sam Snead for that prestigious honor. Tiger's three rounds of 64-64-66 - and 2-under for 11 holes in round 4 - puts him at 18 under over the Accordia Narashino course in Chibu, Japan, with only Hideki Matsuyama having any real chance of overcoming his three-stroke deficit.

The hometown hero is at 15 under and has six holes left to play, but it's another three back to Gary Woodland and Sungjae Im at 12 under and it would be a major stretch to think either one could catch Tiger, unless Tiger's patched-up knee buckles. Tiger has made seven bogeys over 65 holes, along with 25 birdies, and it's not likely that he's going to falter considering the zone he's in. He's rarely missing greens, and when he does, he's usually in good position to get it up and down.

Rory McIlroy made a big push with a third-round 63, and he's 1-under through 16 in the finale, 11 under overall. Gator Billy Horschel is at 10 under with 68-67-64 and he's 1-over after 12 in round 4.
