Tiger, Potter Flirting With Cut Line in Maryland
Friday, June 29, 2018

Tiger Woods shot an even-par 70 in the first round of the Quicken Loans National yesterday and is one stroke better than the early cut line. Ted Potter shot 1-over 72 and is one stroke behind the line. Andrew Landry and J. J. Spaun both shot 7-under 63 and are tied for the lead at the TPC Potomac at Avenel Farm.

Tiger botched up the sixth hole for a double bogey amidst a string of pars, but he birdied 14 and 16 to wind up at even par. Ted began with a double bogey on one and added a bogey on two to drop into a quick hole. But he birdied the ninth with a 3-foot-plus putt, then added birdies at 10, 14 and 15 to get back to even par. Bogeys at 16 and 17 dropped him back to two over again.

Gators: Billy Horschel shot 6-under 64 and Brian Gay 3-under 67.
