Strong Finish Earns Potter a Weekend in Georgia
Saturday, November 18, 2017

For the second day in a row, Ted Potter closed with a flourish at the RSM Classic in nearby Sea Island, Georgia. With the cut line moving from minus 1 to minus 3 during the round as birdies began flying, Ted was sitting right on the line after posting a 1-under 35 on the front side of the Seaside course, then making par on the first six holes on the back.

But he ensured his status for the weekend, along with taking a big jump up the leaderboard, with a birdie 4 on the par-5 16th, a par on 17, and an eagle 3 on the par-5 closing hole. He wound up with 68-68-136, 6 under, and in a tie for 23rd place. He tees off today at 10:15 a. m. in the company of veteran Hunter Mahan and Hudson Swafford.

Austin Cook shot to the top of the board with a second-round 62 to add to his opening 66 for 128, 14 under par. He's one stroke ahead of Brian Gay, the only Gator to make the cut. Gay shot 65-64-129 and has an excellent chance for a big payday since it's four strokes back to a trio in third place.

Missing the cut were Gators Matt Every (70-76-146), Camilo Villegas (71-71-142) and Brett Stegmaier (71-70-141).
