Seven Tied for Lead at Mexico Open
Friday, April 29, 2022

It's been quite a while since the leader board at a PGA Tour event has seen six players tied for first at the end of Thursday's play, but that's the way we stand today. And it's a pretty diverse group.

Jonathan Byrd, Jon Rahm, Brendan Todd, Trey Mullinax, Bryson Nimmer and Kurt Kitayama all shot 7-under-par 64 over the Vallarta Course at the Mexico Open and the extent of the diversity is apparent. Jon Rahm is a consistent top 5 player, but the rest are spread up and down the list of money winnings and FedEx Cup points. It will be interesting to see where the six stand after round 2 today.

Gators: Camilo Villegas - 69, 2 under, tied for 46th; Matt Every - 74, 3 over, tied for 116th. Seminoles: Hank Lebioda and Chase Sieffert - both at 67, 4 under, tied for 21st.

Louis Oosthuizen did not enter, still rehabbing his problem back, Ted Potter entered the Mexico Open and the Korn Ferry Tour event, but was an alternate in both, so far down the list that even moving up for about five days due to several defections didn't help him.
