Rowland Fails to Advance in ClubCorp Classic
Sunday, April 24, 2022

Roger Rowland put up almost a carbon copy of his Friday round in round 2 of the ClubCorp Classic yesterday in Irving, Texas. In round 1, Roger was just 1 over par playing the back nine when he succumbed to the Las Colinas Country Club course and took several bogeys en route to a final score of 75, 4 over par.

Yesterday, he was 1 over heading to the 11th tee, when he struggled again, taking a double on No. 11, and bogeys on 13 and 14, finishing at 5 over and winding up in a four-way tie for 75th in the field of 78.

Steven Alker jumped into the lead with rounds of 68-66-134, 8 under par, and two ahead of Lee Janzen (68-66-136) and Jerry Kelly (66-70-136).

Gator Brian Gay's 70-69-139, 3 under, has him tied for 13th, while Scott Dunlap is one better with 72-66-138. Marco Dawson former touting pro at Adena Springs is at even par (71-71-142) and tied for 30th, and Tom Lehman, architect of Ocala Preserve, is at +3, tied for 55th. Gator Mark Calcavecchia is 4 over and Chris DiMarco is 6 over.

ZURICH CLASSIC OF NEW ORLEANS - Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay, two players who have been at the top of their games in recent months, have taken a five-stroke lead in the team event and look unbeatable heading into today's finale. The two young Turks have put together rounds of 59-68-60 for 187, 28 under par. Oddly-named teammates Garrick Higgs and Branden Higgo are second with 64-65-63-192.

Sam Burns and Gator Billy Horschel are deadlocked for third with 62-68-63-193, 23 under.
