Monday, April 4, 2022

Roger Rowland saved his best for last at the Rapiscan System Classic in Biloxi, following his 74-76 start with a 1-under-par 71 on Sunday. The former long-time Ocalan tied for 60th with Champions Tour stalwarts Rocco Mediate, Tim Petrovic and Woody Austin at 5 over par.

Roger earned a check for $2,540, raising his total for four events among the seniors to $11,410, and he's 84th on the money list. He began on the back nine in the finale and bogeyed the 12th hole, but went on a tear and birdied 13, 14 and 15 to get to 2 under. But bogeys at 17 and 18 left him at even-par 36. On the front, he birdied the second, sixth and seventh, but bogeys on 3 and 4 put him at 1-under 35. Roger had made just two birdies over the first 36 holes, but made six on Sunday.

Steven Alker ran away and hid with a final-round 65 for 198, 18 under par, and a six-stroke victory over Padraig Harington, who also closed with 65, and Alex Cjeka, who shot 67.

Gators: Brian Gay: 72-68-70-210, 6 under, tied for 17th; Scott Dunlap: tied for 39th at 1 under; Chris DiMarco: tied for 48th at 2 over. Marco Dawson, former touring pro at Ocala's Adena Springs course, finished at 8 under, tied for 8th.

The seniors are off for two weeks, returning on April 22 in Irving, Texas for the $2 million ClubCorp Classic.
