Potter's Late Charge Makes FedEx Cup Cut
Friday, August 24, 2018

Faced with the possibility of a quick exit from the Northern Trust Open, first leg of the FedEx Cup playoffs, Ted Potter put it together on the back nine and beat the cut line by two strokes to advance to the weekend in Paramus, New Jersey.

Ted played the first 10 holes of the Ridgewood Country Club in 1 over par, making nine pars plus a bogey on No. 2, and was in danger of missing the cut line. But birdies on 11, 14 and 15, which included his nemesis - two par 3s - and he made the cut with strokes to spare. His 71-69-140 is tied for 44th, and he's eight strokes behind the leaders, Brooks Koepka and Jamie Lovemark. Adam Scott is one behind at 9 under, followed by Dustin Johnson and Bryson DeChambeau at 8 under.

Ted tees off at 10:20 tomorrow in the company of Jordan Spieth.

Phil Mickelson continued his good play and is four back at 6 under, while Tiger Woods almost missed the cut due to bogeys on 15 and 18 that dropped him from 2 under to even par, the cut line.

    Gators: Billy Horschel - 69-69-138, 4 under, tied for 24th; Brian Gay - 71-68-139, 3 under, tied for 33rd.

Seminoles: Koepka tied for first at 10 under; Daniel Berger - 69-70-139, 3 under, tied for 33rd.
