Potter's Charge Good for 2-Under 69
Friday, June 2, 2017

Ted Potter began slowly at the Rex Hospital Open in Raleigh yesterday, but made a huge late charge to sneak under the projected cut line by one stroke.

Ted began on the back at the TPC Wakefield Plantation and bogeyed the 12th and 13th holes to go 2 over par, but he parred out the rest of the nine for an outgoing 37. He was still 2 over after 11 holes when he mounted has charge, birdieing four straight holes to get it to 2 under after a 32 on the front. His 2-under 69 is tied for 35th. There are a slew of players who finished at 1 under and that's the cut line heading into today's second round. Ted tees off at 12:15.

The first-round leader is Chesson Hadley with a 7-under round of 64, one stroke better than Carlos Ortiz and Stephan Jaeger.

DUFNER BACK ON TRACK - At The Memorial in Dublin, Ohio, Jason Dufner and David Lingmerth share the lead with 7-under-par 65s, one stroke better than Jordan Spieth and Daniel Summerhays. Justin Thomas is another stroke back, alone in fifth. Phil Mickelson, Rickie Fowler and Hideki Matsuyama all shot 2-under 70 over the Muirfield Village course.

Seminole Brooks Koepka is tied for ninth at 3-under 69, while Gator Camilo Villegas posted a 2-over 74 and is right on the projected cut line. Matt Every shot 76 and Billy Horchel a surprising 78, same score as turned in by Dustin Johnson.
