Potter Stumbles in Dominican Republic
Friday, March 25, 2022

Ted Potter's trip to Dominican Republic turned out to be less than satisfying on every level yesterday, and he posted a 12-over-par 84 in the first round of the $3.7 million Corales Puntacana Championship.

Ted's nines of 43-41 over the par-72 Corales Golf Course Punta Cana included just one birdie, along with nine pars, five bogeys, two double bogeys and a quadruple bogey nine on a par 5. He went seven over par for his last three holes. Ted hit 9 of 14 fairways, but only 8 of 18 greens in regulation buried him.

Ben Martin is the first-round leader with a 6-under-par 66, followed by Adam Schenk at 67. There's a four-way tie at 68 among Graeme McDowell, Kiradech Aphibarnrat, Vaughn Taylor and Hayden Buckley, and another group of eight is at 69.

Gator Camilo Villegas opened with a 2-over 74 and is tied for 80th, while Seminole Hank Lebioda is at even-par 72, tied for 32nd. The early projected cut line is at 1 over.
