Potter Sharp in RSM Classic Return
Friday, November 16, 2018

A four-week respite from the Tour worked wonders for Ted Potter, who returned at the RSM Classic at Sea Island and fashioned a bogey-free 4-under-par 68 Thursday. The flawless round, over the Plantation course, put him in a tie for seventh place, four strokes behind Charles Howell III's 8 under over the same course.

Howell, playing in the company of Ted and Jason Dufner, holds a two-stroke edge over J. J. Spaun and Austin Cook, who also played Plantation, which proved to be the more accomodating of the two courses. There are three players at 5 under, including Davis Love III, the tournament host.

It isn't until seventh place that two players show up who were successful at the Seaside course, Brian Harman and red-hot Peter Uihlein shooting 4-under-par 66s. The other seven at that number played Plantation.

Ted began on the front nine and made par on the first 8 holes. He birdied the ninth for a 1-under 35. On the back, he birdied No. 10, took five straight pars, then closed with birdies on 16 and 18, both par 5s, for a back-nine 33. He tees off at 9:50 this morning with Howell and Dufner.

Gators: Brian Gay, 3-under 69 at Plantation, tied for 16th. Matt Every, 1 under 69 at Seaside, tied for 45th.
