Potter Servives Cut, Moves Up Leaderboard
Sunday, August 12, 2018

The weather delay at Bellerive Friday helped create mass confusion concerning the 36-hole cutline in the PGA Championship, and it was well into Saturday before those on the bubble knew they were in for the rest of the weekend.

Despite taking a bogey on his 36th hole, Ted Potter made the cut right on the number after rounds of 74-66-140, his second round including a much-publicized eagle two on the 14th hole when he holed out an iron from the fairway. That shot made the difference between going home and having a chance to grab another good paycheck on Sunday evening.

In round 3, Ted began by taking two bogeys, but he rebounded with four birdies for a 2-under 68, leaving him at 2 under for 54 holes and in a tie for 45th place.

Seminole Brooks Koepka, who has been quoted lately as saying the media doesn't give him much respect, took a two-stroke lead into the finale after rounds of 69-63-66-198, 12 under par. Adam Scott moved into second at 10 under, and Jon Rahm, Rickie Fowler and Gary Woodland are next at 9 under.

There's a six-way deadlock at 8 under, including Tiger Woods, Jason Day and Justin Thomas. Tiger has posted rounds of 70-66-66 and has looked good doing it.

Daniel Berger, the other Seminole, is tied for 15th at 6 under, and for the Gators, Billy Horschel is tied for fourth at 4 under (68-68-69) and Brian Gay is 80th and last at plus 6.
