Ted Potter got off to a horrendous start yesterday in round 1 of the Korn Ferry Tour's Live and Work in Maine event, then made a sharp comeback to wind up with an even-par 71, good for a tie for 49th.
Needing to make a major turnaround to negate his recent spate of missed cuts, Ted began on the back nine and bogeyed No. 10, followed by a triple bogey on the par-4 12th to put him at 4 over par with 15 holes to play. He then birdied 13 and 16 and wound up with a 2-over 38 on the back.
On the front nine, Ted birdied No. 1 to get back to 1 over, but bogeys on 2 and 4 shot him up to 3 over again. Then he got hot - birdies on 5, 6 and 9 and he was back to even.
Patrick Cover took the early lead with 7-under 64, with John VanDerLaan and Quade Cummins a stroke behind with 66s.
Ted tees off today at 11:40 a. m. at the Falmouth Country Club.
