Potter Rebounds After Slow Start in Houston
Friday, October 11, 2019

After six holes at the Houston Open yesterday, Ted Potter looked like he had no chance for redemption as far as making the 36-hole cut by tonight. But Ted persevered, and wound up with a 1-over-par 73, just two strokes away from the early projected cut line of 1 under.

Ted began with four straight pars, then got himself into deep trouble with a triple bogey seven at the par-4 fifth, followed by a double bogey six at the par-4 sixth. After a par on 7, he birdied 8 and 9 to get back to 3 over. On the back, he parred seven in a row before making birdies at 17 and 18 to complete his 1-over round.

Austin Cook and Talor Gooch tied for the 18-hole lead at 8-under 64, with Sepp Straka one stroke behind.

Both Gators are inside the cut line, Brian Gay with a 3-under 69 (tie for 23rd), and Matt Every with a 2-under 70 (tie for 36th).

Seminoles Daniel Berger (77) and Hank Lebioda (74) are outside the line.
