Ted Potter shot his third straight round under par in the finale of the Quicken Loans National yesterday and wound up in a tie for 23rd, earning a nice check for $65,320. That brought his total for the season to $1,800,458. He posted rounds of 72-66-68-69-275, 5 under par, and recorded his fourth top 25 of the season.

Francisco Molinari ran away with the title after a Sunday 62 which didn't allow anyone to get close. His 21 under par won by 8 strokes over Ryan Armour.

Ted began with a bogey on No. 1 again, and completed four rounds without making a par on the par-4 hole: he had three bogeys and one double - playing it in 5 over. But he birdied 2 and 5 and parred the next four for a 1-under 34. Two birdies and two bogeys on the back completed his 69. He made 19 birdies over the 72 holes.

Tiger Woods flirted with the top 5 all day and wound up with a 4-under 66 and a tie for fourth at 11 under. He made six birdies and two bogeys during the round and moved up to 47th on the FedEx points list. Tiger tied for first over 72 holes with 21 birdies.

Gators: Brian Gay closed with 68 and finished at 9 under, tied for eighth; Billy Horschel closed with 67 and was 6 under, tied for 17th.

The tour moves to West Virginia this week for A Military Tribute @ The Greenbrier, where Ted won for the first time on the PGA Tour in 2012. He'll be back for this one, along with Phil Mickelson, John Daly, Bubba Watson, Vijay Singh and Gators Chris Couch, Matt Every, Brian Gay and Brett Stegmaier.

The Old White TPC course is a par 70, playing to 7,286 yards. The front nine par is 34, with no par 5s. The back is a par 36, with two par 5s, one of them at 616 yards.

BEAT THE TOM TOMS - David Toms won the U. S. Senior Open over the difficult Broadmoor Golf Course in Colorado Springs with a 3-under-par 277. Tied for second, one stroke behind, were Miguel Angel Jimenez, Tim Petrovic and Jerry Kelly, as only seven players broke the par of 70.

Among the local players, Grant Waite shot 74-71-76-77-298, 18 over par, and tied for 56th. He was the only one to make the cut, which came at 8 over. Jerry Slagle shot 80-81, Daniel Owen 79-78, and Tim Hume 72-81.
