Potter Out of Digital Ally Open
Sunday, July 30, 2017

Ted Potter bowed out of the Digital Ally Open in Overland, Kansas, yesterday, making it three straight missed cuts in Web.com Tour events in July. Ted added a second straight even-par 71 to his Friday round after bad weather on Thursday set the tournament back a day. It winds up with 36 holes set for today.

Ted never was able to make any further progress after getting it to three under early Friday. He wound up making seven birdies and an equal number of bogeys over the 36 holes. Ted went into the event in 10th place on the money list with just over $197,000 in the bank, but he's certain to drop a few spots by this evening.

David Skinns is the leader at the halfway point at 13 under par, one stroke better than Brandon Hawkins and Central Floridian Rob Oppenheim, who shot 67-63-130. Oppenheim is 26th on the money list, just $3,000 out of 25th, and a high finish today can almost assure him of getting his PGA card for next season. Seminole Jack Maguire is tied for 22nd after rounds of 70-65-135, 7 under par, but two-time Ocala Open winner Dan McCarthy joined Ted on the sidelines after rounds of 73-67-140, 2 under.

HOFFMAN IN FRONT IN CANADA - Charley Hoffman (-17) takes a one-stroke lead into today's final round at the $6 million RBC Canadian Open, but there are 14 other players within four of the lead. Kevin Chappell is second at 16 under, and resurgent Gator Matt Every is still in the hunt, tied for 11th at 13 under after rounds of 65-68-70-203. Camilo Villegas is down the list after shooting 71-69-74-214, 2 under. Gators Brian Gay and Brett Stegmaier both shot 71-73 and missed the cut.
