Ted Potter experienced a three-hole meltdown on his second nine at the PGA Championship yesterday and goes into round 2 at 4 over par, 10 strokes behind leader Gary Woodland.
Ted began on the back nine and made two bogeys and one birdie at the par-70 Bellerive course in St. Louis for a 36 after nine holes. On the front nine, he didn't make a birdie, while taking bogeys at 4, 5 and 6 for a 38. The early projected cut came at 1 over.
Woodland's 64 leads Rickie Fowler by one and Brandon Stone and Zach Johnson by two. There is a logjam at 3-under 67.
Tiger Woods was horrendous for his first two holes, taking bogey-double bogey and starting at 3 over par. But he rallied for four birdies and one bogey over the last 16 holes to wind up at even-par 70.
Gator Billy Horschel was in good position after a 2-under 68, and Seminole Brooks Koepka was at 1-under 69. Seminole Daniel Berger needs to pick it up today after a 3-over 73, same as Phil Mickelson.
