Potter Misses Cut in Bahamas by One Stroke
Tuesday, January 18, 2022

Ted Potter was in position to make the cut with a stroke to spare yesterday after nine holes of the second round of the $750,000 Bahamas Great Exuma Classic. Ted had opened with a 1-over-par 73 on Sunday and needed another 73 or better to make the cut, which came at 2-over-par 146. But he couldn't get the job done.

After making two birdies and two bogeys on the back nine of the Sandals at Emerald Bay Golf Club, Ted began the front nine with a bogey on 10. He then made par on the next three holes, but bogeyed No. 5 to go to plus 3, needing one birdie on the next four to continue playing today; he didn't get it. His 73-74-147 missed by a stroke.

The next event on the Korn Ferry schedule is the $750,000 Bahamas Great Abaco Classic, and Ted is going to remain in the sunshine for that one.

Here's what happened yesterday to the other PGA Tour (and Ocala) veterans looking to regain their exemptions: Making the cut - Hooters Tour winner at Golden Hills - Mark Blakefield (71-75-146); two-time winner of the Ocala Open at Candler Hills - Dan McCarthy (75-71-146); Aaron Baddeley (71-71-141); Erik Compton (73-72-145); Eric Cole (77-68-145). Gator Tyson Alexander also made it with 74-72-146, on the number.

Missing the cut: Sam Saunders (75-77-152); defending champ Tommy Gainey (75-74-149); Tag Ridings (80-72-152); Daniel Chopra (76-71-147); Sean O'Hair (78-75-153); Sangmoon Bae (79-72-151); Shawn Stefani (82-71-153).

The leaders after 36 holes are Chris Baker (70-67-137, minus 7), and Harry Hall (68-69-137, minus 7).
